BYD Sealion 7 – E-SUV from 47,990 euros with a range of up to 502 km
At the Paris Motor Show, the Chinese manufacturer BYD presented its eighth model for the European market. All information about the BYD Sealion 7!
With the Sealion 7, BYD is bringing a mid-range e-SUV to Europe. The Chinese manufacturer's eighth model was officially presented at the Paris Motor Show and should be available to order in France as early as this month. Deliveries are to take place before the end of this year.

The BYD Sealion 7 is the SUV equivalent of the Seal or the Dolphin from the Ocean range of BYD models.
BYD Sealion 7 – Three model variants at launch
On November 14, BYD announced more details about the new BYD Sealion 7 electric SUV. With the new electric car, BYD wants to inspire European customers in particular and is expanding its range to eight models. The Sealion 7 is available in three different variants: Comfort, Design and Excellence. In the Design and Excellence variants, all-wheel drive is part of the standard equipment. The Comfort variant has rear-wheel drive and (like the design variant) a smaller battery with 82.5 kWh. The BYD Sealion 7 Excellence has a 91.3 kWh battery.
In terms of range, the Sealion 7 thus manages 502 km according to WLTP for Excellence and 482 and 456 for Comfort and Design. The longer range of the Comfort can be explained by the weaker engine of only 230 kW compared to the 390 kW system output of the more expensive models. The entry-level model and also the mid-range variant charge with up to 150 kW charging power, while the top model scores here with 230 kW and thus charges from 10 to 80% in just 24 minutes. Regardless of the capacity, BYD has installed lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries that do not require cobalt. In terms of engine power, the Sealion 7 doesn't have to hide from the competition either. The entry-level model manages the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds – the top speed is 215 km/h. In the more powerful variants with all-wheel drive, the Sealion 7 accelerates to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
BYD Sealion 7 – Comfort and assistance systems in the interior
With slightly larger dimensions than the BYD Seal, there is plenty of interior space for passengers and their luggage. With the rear seats up, 520 liters fit in the trunk, and when folded down, there is 1,789 liters of storage space. In addition, there is a 58-liter frunk at the front.
In the interior of the BYD Sealion 7, as in other models, the rotatable, central touchscreen plays the main role. With a diagonal of 15.6 inches, all functions of the car can be operated and a heat pump is also part of the standard equipment. The integration of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay into the vehicle's internal infotainment system is said to have been improved, so that more information is displayed on the 10.25-inch digital instrument display.
The top model also has a head-up display to keep an eye on all important information. Otherwise, the equipment variants do not differ too much in the interior. The Excellence also offers leather seats on top, but in terms of assistance and safety systems, all three model variants are fully equipped with a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control and many other systems.
BYD Sealion 7 – Delivery still in 2024
In terms of price, the BYD Sealion 7 is available from 47,990 euros in the Comfort trim. The design costs 53,990 euros, while the SUV costs 58,990 euros for the top model Excellence. This makes the Sealion 7 slightly more expensive than the Seal, but also offers more space.
Deliveries are expected to take place in 2024. When buying a new Sealion 7, there is a manufacturer's warranty of up to 6 years or 8 years on the battery and electric motor.
